By I guess I have to admit that I think this is a pretty great idea.

Personally, I think the best thing about it is that you can put together a meal that is both tasty and cheap. Because this is a potluck, its easy to do a meal with lots of leftovers and theres no way to know if you have enough food to eat. If you dont, then you might as well just eat leftovers.
I think that you can also do something like this with a dinner party. Have each of your friends make a dinner and then cook it for your other guests. This way you can add a little something extra to each dish and have a decent meal since theres no way to know whether you have enough food to eat.

That’s exactly what I did when I was in college. I started a student senate group where we made potluck food using the same food from the cafeteria. A lot of people like this because they can eat a lot of food at once.
