This altoids sours is my favorite way to use a sourdough starter. It is so simple. Just put the bread in the water, let it soak for at least 24 hours, sour it until it has a sour taste, and then bottle it. Just don’t forget to use a little water to moisten it (it can dry out quickly) and put it in the refrigerator.
I didn’t realize altoids sours were something I used to do to learn. I would have loved to have been able to eat them right away, and that would have been pretty fun.
I have also known people to use altoids sours for a variety of reasons, from being a quick way to make bread to using it like a sourdough starter. The only reason I cant explain why altoids sours are so easy to make is because I don’t know how they work. For example, if you want sour to taste like sourdough, you have to add some salt and some water. I have to admit though that I didnt have that much of a problem with making altoids sours. The only thing that took me a few minutes and a few steps was the bag of flour and the water.
